With the chilly weather and a cuppa joe in hand, it’s just the perfect time for everyone to gather their vague thoughts and put them into writing.
So earlier today I was able to enlist my subjects for the Spring 2012 semester and I couldn’t be more excited! For the past uh, 8978762 years I have been smothering and educating myself with magazines, daily newspapers, some books and.. personal life experiences. Say whuuuut.
Anyhoo, I have been job hunting for the past 2 months now since I want to work part-time while studying. Krispy Kreme, McDonalds, KFC, Forever 21, Macy’s, Target, Kohl’s, Walmart ETC. You name it! But sadly, I haven’t been hired in any til now. I was thinking that my modest front desk experience in the Philippines would suffice for being a service crew in a fast food chain, or as a retail associate but apparently, it didn't. Unemployment rate in Vegas is sadly soaring in number and is not getting better by the minute thus, the more competition there is.
Well I actually got hired for Haagen Dazs at the MGM. However unfortunately, the business got slow so I still am on hold for actual employment. A few days ago I had my interview at Jollibee (AHA!) and I was asked if I can do children’s party hosting apart from being part of the service crew. Well of course I said yes and hopefully I’d be able to snatch the job. That would be fun! Plus if I ever do get in, I’d get 50% off! WOULDN’T THAT BE GREAT. To think that the happy bee’s meals are pricier as compared to other US fast foods. Yep, pricier.
Palabok aka Fiesta noodles alone costs $6. Php250? ARE YOU KIDDING ME. You can buy a humongous burger + bottomless drink with that in Jack in The Box! I guess they're taking advantage of Filipinos who want to get the feel of "home." :-( I am one to testify cos I do miss my unvarying jolly order in the PI. I.e., spicy chicken with spaghetti + large sprite + peach mango pie. AHHHHHHH
Speaking of which, the States is, can I just say, a food sanctuary. Since thy parents arent barred from being lethargic once in a while, we do eat out pretty much often to free ourselves from the hassle of cooking and washing dishes and to save time as well.
I wasn’t really a sandwich person UNTIL I set foot here. For me there's a couple of fast food chains that stood out from the rest of the burger pack. One of which is Carl's Jr.'s Portobello Mushroom (slightly reminds me of our local mushroom burger from Mushroom Burger in Tagaytay.... slightly.)
Mushroom Burger's Mushroom burger Carl's Jr.'s Portobello Mushroom
Jack in the Box's Sourdough Jack and In N Out's cheeseburger of course.
I'm also currently hooked to Jack in the Box's curly fries. Well there aint much difference between the one from McDonalds but JITB's butter milk dip takes it to a whole new level of tastebud madness.
PS. Dont you find it funny that its actually called "curly" fries? Hahahahaha curlyyy. I think "twister" fries is better.
